com_flexicontent&view=search options confusion

I try to figure out how to set up the FC search. In the menu item com_flexicontent&view=search I see the option "Search Words in" but there is no chance to let the search go through the title or description or any other content and my custom fields - Ican only choose between basic and advanced but not both. I want the search to go through every piece of information that is available for an article, like author, title, my custom fields, create date, image descriptions ...

How can I achieve this? cheers

Hello,

in search view menu item set to use

a. "Basic Search Index"
which includes all fields marked as "Content List Text searchable", e.g. title, description, image field, file field, etc

b. "Advanced Search Index"
which includes all fields marked as "Search view Text searchable", e.g. title, description, image field, file field, etc
-- if you use this it will be slower but you can select to include only some fields in the search (thus ignoring the others)

This is clear if you read description in search view menu item

Thanks. But I cant see any hint in the description that the "Advanced Index" includes the basic fields, which is correct because in fact the basic fields are not included in the Advanced Index. That is why I don't get any search result when I choose "Advanced Index (Fields below)" but I get results when I use "Basic ...". So I think the description could be improved as well as the drop down which needs an additional option: "ALL fields". So I can not only choose between either Basic OR Advanced but also have search results from both field types at the same time. As I wrote already "I want the search to go through every piece of information that is available for an article". That is what I need in the result list.

Please

you do not need to do anything else in search view menu item for text search other than select the basic or advanced search index

if some field is not include then

simply go to fields manager and select fields that you want to include in basic search index or in advanced search index

Thanks. So ALL the basic fields (title, description, ...) are included when I choose "Advanced Index (Fields below)"?
I went to the fields setup and saw that the description is not included by default in the "Search View". Is there a reason for that that I am not aware of?
cheers

Hello,

in field manager you can select which field are text searchable and filterable

just set what you need and recreate the search indexes (you will get a warning asking you do this)
