hmm, where do these old overrides come from. I didn't create any overrides nor did I edit them, except for item/form.php. I recon they are not overwritten, when one installs a new flexicontent version over an older one, because if it was so, it would have happened when I last upgraded. Couldn't I just overwrite the old ones with new ones? If yes, where do I get them?

OK you should then delete this folder

yourjoomlatemplate/html/com_flexicontnet/search/

since
1. New menu item has already enough parameters to customize the output enough
2. You may have problems (like the one you reported) or some new features will not work
