Pathway issue

Pathway issue was created by Rooney
Hi I went live with our new FlexiContent page last week. Before we had about 300 (German) pages in the Google index, after 10 days many, many more. The good thing is that Google updated the information so quickly, the bad thing is that many of the pages should actually not appear at all.

One of the reason is the pathway built. Example:
Everyhing is ok here (pathway build from menu items):
www.muenstermann.com/ausbildung- ... rmann.html
When I go to a submenu item:
www.muenstermann.com/ausbildung- ... bauer.html
Here, a new entry "Ausbildungsberufe" instead of the menu item is added to the pathway which is actually name of the category in which the displayed article is in. Clicking on "Ausbildungsberufe" in the pathway now gives a category view
www.muenstermann.com/ausbildung- ... erufe.html
Which is defined nowhere and should not appear at all. Google of course puts that link in the index.

Do you understand? There are many of such pages...

You want some categories no to appear in pathway?

No. The link to this category view www.muenstermann.com/ausbildung- ... erufe.html should never be in the pathway. The menu link www.muenstermann.com/ausbildung- ... rmann.html should be in the pathway instead.

Rooney

Edit: Problem with the first link is that the category view is not defined nor setup.

No. I do not now why the category link is in the pathway.

The menu is built like that:

Ausbildung und Karriere
-- Ausbildung bei Münstermann
--- Metallbauer/in-Fachrichtung Konstruktionstechnik (title of the article)

The pathway is built (but first when I click on Metallbauer):

Ausbildung und Karriere
-- Ausbildungsberufe (!!! and this is a link to the category view, which is nowhere defined in the menu !!!)
---- Metallbauer (title of the article)

The parent category TREE of the item is added to the pathway, just after the menu items are added, -- this is done until item depth defined in the menu item is reached

e.g. if you set item depth 5 for a menu item pointing to FLEXIcontent item K

then after e.g. 2 menu items are added to the pathway then you will have 3 categories of the parent category tree of the item added to the pathway and then the item itself is added to the pathway

In FLEXIcontent Advanced Route plugin you can select Content Types e.g. "Article", "Car", "Hotel", for which their categories will not be added to the pathway

I think I found the solution. It is an old Joomla issue (or feature). Joomla does not realize the connection between items if there are only connected via a menu (menu and submenu item). In my case the menu item linked to an article and the submenu items also. If you want to have the menu item title (and link) in the pathway I had to create a category link for the menu item and I put the original article content into the category description (displaying no article links). Then I put the articles for the submenu items into that category and now the pathway shows the menu item title and link!
