Custom fields will not display on the frontend

I've searched the forums. At first, my custom fields wouldn't save anything. Removing spaces from the field name fixed that (thanks).

Still, my problem is only half fixed. Custom fields save what I input, but the fields don't show on the front end. The only thing that shows is the description field. The weblink field won't display. The author's notes text area won't display. They are there, but invisible.

I turned versioning off, but the problem persists.

help? :mrgreen:

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

==> 1. Edit your item.xml and your category.xml and create one more position named 'renderonly' or whatever name you like.

==> 2. Then clean cache
==> 3. Go to the template manager and drag & drop: your field e.g 'modified' to the new position.
==> 4. Inside your template file item.php use:
$this->item->positions->modified->label
$this->item->positions->modified->display
First is the Field's Label and Second the output of the field. The 'modified' is the name of the field could anything you named your field e.g. 'mynameABCD'

The other way is:

<?php echo FlexicontentFields::getFieldDisplay($this->item, 'modified'); ?>

Regards

I am using FLEXIcontent version 1.5.4 stable (r558).
I had fiddled with the fields so much I forgot to drag them back into the template. Doh!

You all are a huge help. I'm off to make a ton of custom fields and maybe even some new field groups. Thanks all. :D
