filter on the left & search result on the right

Hello,
I would like to place the flexicontent advanced search on the left, and only have the search results on the right.
I have set the position to left in the module settings and also set the form to left in the menu link settings, but the advanced search form always opens above the search results. What should I do?
+ How can I hide the ‘content type’ field as I only have one?
