Hello

if this new item form then you can hide it in submit menu item

Hello

you can hide the container of the secondary categories in the type configuration

Item Form TAB / Item Form Frontend TAB / Styling and behaviour TAB

add to "CSS" parameter
Code:
#fcform_categories_container { display: none; }

Then to also hide the TAB form the item form
Item Form TAB / Item Form Frontend TAB / Item Form Layout TAB
enter to "Tab 3" parameter:
__skip__

Alternative you can apply the above in component configuration to effect all types

hello, I know it is an old post,
my solution for that is to assign in the type to a new sub-category
and diable subtreeparent
