One section of the project is meant to be a library to download pdf's or buy books.
What's the best solution you can recommend me?
- using flexicontent (to create the custom fields) together with other extension to provide a shopping cart and payment solutions (and what extension do you recommend)?
- using only other extension?

2 ways (depends of number of item to sell)
flexicontent + j2store or quick2store (small item)
flexicontent + hikashop (more item)
hikashop buissness (powerfull with search and compare)

Do you have any tutorial on how to combine hikashop with flexicontent?

depend of what you want to do ...
but in fact :
-1 flexicontent item for display with field and 1 specific fied to execute hikashop plugin
- 1 hikdashop item for product

the field in flexicontent can be a select with a query to find all products (take title and id)
and use prefix and suffix to create the render
prefix use removing space otption
it will be do this where 1 is the number of the product

Well I've got to try!

I think the best solution is flexicontent to show the products with one field for the hikashop plugin (like add to cart, add to wishlist and payment).
