Alternative category selector (child based on parent)?

Hello!
Is it possible to change category selector view?
It's very convenient menus, that displays child categories based on chosen parent.

but mix 2 fields in 1 can be confusing about primary category

What does the fields have to do with it?
I'm talking about categories.
Auto loading child categories after user make chose of parent category.
The current way of choosing a category is too complicated for the frontend user.

it is nice to create a new form element selector that behaves like this for its childs
and then use it for category selector too

we can consider this in the future
in general any simplification of the frontend form is a move forward
