How to hide parent category in filter?

How to hide parent category in filter?



But allow to search from all child categories?
I mean, if user not choose any category, filter will displays all items from all categories.

if you make the select to be "Tag-like" selection (=a hidden HTML select-multiple)
then it is already hidden by default !


In this case it is select single and we need to have a "placeholder" , an "empty" filter value

so you suggest to show "Select category" instead of the category name ?

I don't know... May be we should have choice (settings) what to display, Category name, Select category, or custom placeholder...

I admit it does not look good to have category name

Default and suitable for most case for custom text is : Select sub-category

Also most other fields have exactly these parameters
so this will look good and consistent with what we have for filtering for other filters
