SOLVED - Unable to delete type

Hi - Here's a peculiar problem that I am facing. I am using ver 3.1.1. I had created some types and then added some items under these types. Then I have deleted the items and tried to delete the type.

However, I am unable to delete the type and the message that I get is that there are still items under these types. I thought I made some mistake, so I chose all items in any state. It shows that there are two items each belonging to the type "Christmas".

However, when I look at the types, it shows that there are 1 items each under Article and New Years. Screen shot attached for your reference. I have also cleared cleared expired and current cache but there is no change. Can you help please

Hi - I figured out why I was not able to delete the type. The process is to first go to the category view, delete the items and then delete the type.
