Hi,

I'm not sure if this is flexi or the new joomla,
Even after I change the Category of an item(article), the old category still stays associated with the item.
How do I disassociate an item from a category?

Hi,
there are two places where categories can be assigned in item form. First "Category" between Alias and Tag form field. An the second on is in the tab "Assignments". So if you have assigned a item to a category and want to change the category you have to go to Assignments and delete the assignment to the old category.

Hi

this is not user-friendly,
i find this behaviour problematic, and since we can improve it without trouble

i have made a change not to include main category (backend / frontend)
in the selector secondary categories (it is not needed by the save operation anyway !)

Hello

the featured categories can be enabled in component configuration
- by selecting a single parent category of them

they serve these purpose

1. in item listings they can get special CSS markups
e.g. usually their name in special floating box is the special marking that they get
- but you can add more because the items have CSS class

2, in item form assignment to "featured categories" is done by a different category selector, and there are some ACL permission in component configuration to control this
- thus if user has "Create" in a featured category and if he/she ACL to modify the category selector (ACL permission in component) then he can change them
e.g. you may sell subscriptions that add users to USER-GROUP which user-groups have ACL permission to modify the featured categories

3. Usually the featured categories you would use them in a module in category menu items at important places
- thus making the management of your "special" content more easy

4. TODO: add parameters for this in category view
e.g. if no filtering is active then only list items with in FEATURED categories or with FEATURED flag
e.g. ....
