Categories field with only subcategories

Thank you I think I need to upgrade to FC 3 first, I can't see it anywhere. Maybe that will solve the problem anyway, but so far I don't suppose that access levels are the point, as my problem is not to show less categories in the filter, but to show some instead of none...

Hi, I am back I updated flexiContent to version 3.0.8, and I am still not finding the option to set the acl of the categories which should help to see subcategories in the filter field. This has never really worked and still doesn't unfortunately. So far, I get only an empty drop down for the category filter, whilst I display a category item list with items in at least two subcategories.

when a version is out to due to an important fix (fixes item form broken in J3.4.4),
not everything that was intended is included,

- categories filter will show by default the sub-categories of current category (and the category itself)
you say that the category itself should not be visible, but only its subcategories ?
