hi there,

my question:
what do i have to do to order a category-page by custom date-field, sorted "newest first"?

my problem:
result seems not logically comprehensible; somehow both numeric and alphanumeric sorting
result in unwanted sortings.

my date-field is of type "Text (number/time/etc/custom validation)"

what i tried:
menu item config > list items creation > CUSTOM field ordering >
- Enable: Yes
- Custom field: <my date field>
- Direction: Descending
- Ordering Method: Numeric

field config > Input value Masking & Validation >
- Value Validation Mask: Date(yyyy/mm/dd)
- (actually i would prefer Date(dd.mm.yyyy), but i got the impression that sorting messes up then...?)

thanks for advice! :)

Hello

it sounds like it would need conversion for proper ordering,
so you cannot do it by either numeric or alphanumeric sorting

using the "date" field instead of "text",
-- has the benefit of storing data into the database in a sortable way
