How to setup and manage workflow?

I am evaluating Flexicontent and Flexiaccess for a major forthcoming project. Very impressed, especially the ease of use.

In Flexiaccess I can see how to create a group with create and edit permissions only, and another group with publish permissions. Great so far.

In Flexicontent I can see the 6 status options when editing an item (pending, in progress, etc), but does the workflow functionality notify a publisher when there is a new item waiting for approval?

Is there a workflow process/queue?
