Beginner - trying to get basics figured out for new article

Hi all..I am very new to Joomla and FlexiContent so forgive me for my wording of questions..I am usually good at figuring this stuff out but have spent a great deal of time already and perhaps I just need to know what the proper search terms are.

Here is the main problem...
I made a brand new Joomla site with just the basics..added a couple entries (Articles) to make sure it worked and then went on to install FlexiContent. Seemed like it all went well.

Now when I am adding an Item / Article using the backend (admin area) the new editor (submit form) looks quite a bit different then when adding an item from the front end.

I am guessing the front end is using the standard Joomla Add article link and the backend is using FlexiContents functions to add the Item / Article.

If that is the case...
What else needs to be done in order to have a link off the front end (Main Pages) to add a new item / article using the FlexiContent form?

Thank you.

Hello

for frontend,

please create a
FLEXIContent menu item of type
"Item submission form"

NOTE: You can configure frontend item form in:

-1- component settings / Item form TAB

-2- content type edit page, (if needed) you can override configuration
... thus you can have different configuration per content type

-- ... optionally override configuration in the "Item submission form"
(effects only initial submission and NOT editing of items)

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?
-- Add your voice to the FLEXIcontent JED listing with a 5-star...

Thank you for the reply...It looks like that is one way I tried doing it already but both attempts now have led me to an error page when I click the newly created menu link. Making the menu item works fine..I just can't get to the submit page once done.

Maybe there is something I am missing on the build menu item configuration?

Or maybe the setting that needs attention is with the SEO friendly URLS?

I just don't know since I am very new to this.

Here is what the error page reads:

Error 0

You may not be able to visit this page because of:

an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
a mistyped address

Hello

it could be a joomla misconfiguration

1. at top-level (to rule out, problems with inaccessible parent items)

2. set the access-level of the menu item to be public

3. set language of menu item to be "ALL"

4. login to frontend as administrator and then test with other users

Regards

I have checked that all menu items are set to public..the language is set too All and I have logged in with Super User account. Still same thing.

I also went and turned off the SEO friendly URLs in global config and tested..same result but now I can see actual URLS which may be of help figuring this out.

The one that works says view=form but the FlexiContent link says view=item.

Also the layout variables are different.

Could this be the problem?

Here are the URLs to menu items:

The one that seems to work without FlexiContent...
index.php?option=com_content&view=form&layout=edit&Itemid=102

The one that gives the error link...
index.php?option=com_flexicontent&view=item&layout=form&Itemid=122

Looking around still and if the last post was not the issue then I am guessing it has to do with the box under required settings...which I am now trying to understand and double check.

In order to configure the (Frontend) Submit/Edit ITEM FORM, please set:
(a) Form Configuration in Component and Content Type,
(b) 'Create' / 'Edit' ACL for Category and Types, etc
(c) Author/User group limitations, etc

-- So enable/use the following overrides only if needed,

-- The above mentioned configuration and ACL are needed ANYWAY in various cases and places.
