Display Category as Field

Hi,

I want to explain first what I am trying to do because I am sure there are a lot of better ways to do things than what I am considering.

I have a product page that shows a number of fields (description, application, features, and part order information). The client wants the last three items to be displayed in tabs, where the specific information is shown when the tab is clicked on. I have set up a custom template that recognizes the description as outside the tabs, and then the rest are shown inside the tabs (the tabs are being handled by jQuery which is working fine).

The first two fields (application and features) are no problem, as they are read in from the product category. However, the last item (part order information) is a whole spreadsheet of information, that needs to be imported and displayed as a table inside the tabs somehow.

My first thought is to create a category that handles the part order information. But then the problem is how to get the template to see the category fields as a unit I can build a table around. But like I said at the beginning, I suspect there are better ways to handle this from the get go. In any case, I would certainly appreciate any advice you might be able to provide.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi again,

Thank you for your quick response. I believe your suggestion appears to be close to answering the question as I originally stated it. However, since then I understand my needs a little more clearly, to where the parameters warrant a new post.

Thanks again for addressing the question in the manner that I asked.

Mike
