Product Finder Module

Among the things I have to implement for this project where I am using Flexicontent is a "Product Finder".

The product finder is essentially a search module where the user has the ability to restrict the search by category.
This is our product structure:

Products
- Gategory 1
+ SubCat (1,2,3,4,5,etc.)
- Category 2
+ SubCat (1,2,3,4,5,etc.)

- Category 3
+ SubCat (1,2,3,4,5,etc.)

Product can belong to one or more of those categories and subcategories.

Here is a link to a screenshot of the mockup:

Presumably, a user will first select the category/subcategory they want and then search for a product.

The flexicontent modules seem to be very comprehensive, but the search module didn't look like it had the ability to do this. I am not sure if the other module would do the trick.
Is this "product finder" possible with the Flexicontent system or do we have to build something ourselves?

Thank you

Indeed the search module, currently, does not display any search filters e.g. categories,

so currently i suggest display the FLEXIcontent search view , enable display of category search filters (in menu configuration) and letting your user select categories there ...

Thank you for the replay. The issue I am having is that I need to absolutely make the module look like that and it has to be placed in the left column of the site.

What if I we copy the code in the advanced search and use it in a module? Would that work?

What about a regular advanced search module with the ability to search into Joomla categories?

My biggest problem is that I am really confused on how the "Filters" work.
There are ways to load pages into modules and modules into modules or pages, I am not sure that it would work with Flexicontent items but with joomla pages it would be possible. But first I would need to build a search page resembling my mockup by using filters, but I have no idea where to start.

I think we'll just go ahead and build our own module and see where that takes us, but if anyone has any good idea, I am all ears.

Thanks you for the kind replyes
