"Read more" visible in description column grid view

I recently customized my own grid view template and among other things I built it so it displayed a grid in category view. I wanted to automatically limit the text displayed in the "Description" field, but I wasn't able to make it work (if there is a way to do that, it would be nice) but I found that if I inserted a "Read more" in the dscription, in Flexicontent category view it worked just great, so that's what I did.

Unfortunately, we had to get rid of the first batch of data and import a new batch. I also had to rename some of the categories as well, but that's all we did.

Now for some reason the "Read more" code shows up in the description column when present and it looks like this:

I have no idea even why it would have a width of 996.xxxpx but in reality it shouldn't show at all.

Do you have any ideas what may be going on? In the previous data it worked great.

Never mind, I found the culprit. Some of the "read more" tags were entered by pasting the code and somehow the text editor gave them a width value.
