import categories with MySQL/phpMyAdmin

I have many category / sub-category to create (51 x 23 ! ), I was wondering if it was possible to do this via MySQL.
The first question is whether another table "categories" is modified during the creation of a category?
Do you think it is possible to create my categories (import with phpMyAdmin) by modifying only this table (categories)?
