FC Filemanager for Images?

How can I use a 'files' field for images? I would like to upload images as a file, and have them rendered as an <img> tag. Is this possible?

Hello, this a kind of implemented and being tested


1. image field
(a) be converted to multi-valued
(b) ability to use images from a folder:
e.g. images/stories/fc_item_id_field_id
(done)


2. ability of filemanager to have 2 modes
(a) upload file (images) adding them as DB file records (existing behavior)
(b) (new!!!) browse a specific image folder and upload images (files) to it
e.g. images/stories/fc_item_id_field_id

3. allow while using mode (b) above, to assign these images to a field, (implemented for image field)
(done, being tested)


-- Thus the image field is not an all powerful gallery with legend, description, link to item etc ... and the other parameters that it has


-- I have a couple of questions that i need to answer,

(a) where the thumbnails of these images will be created? maybe inside:
images/stories/fc_item_id_field_id/thumbs ???

(b) also will the filemanager create thumbnails for the image field e.g. by calling a function of the image field,
or the image field will create them the next time it is displayed in edit form or in frontend view ...
