is there a way to add field to category ?

Hi,

In my current project (approximately a shop blog portal), i decided to put the shops as a category. There are a lot of infos linked to a shop (as google maps, address, etc.). Is it possible to add fields to a category in the same way we can do it with items ?

Or should i think about a new architecture ?

maybe in v1.5.6,

it will be possible to assign an item to the category to be displayed instead of the category description.

because it is already possible to do this for authors

-- create a new type "Category Description"
-- create a new template (or more templates) "catdescr"
-- create a category "Descriptions of Categories" to contain the items of type "Category Description"
-- make the category "Descriptions of Categories" do be unroutable in the system "Advanced Routing Plugin" (this means no links to this category will appear on the site).

but cann't promise i will do this , better make some changes in your planning ... to use what is available

Sounds good. Maybe i can try that. so i design my type w/ all the fields i need. will be clean and neat. and display the corresponding item when the visitor is in the shop category.
Moreover if needed, can i configure a place where i will get only these items ?

We are looking for a stable v1.5.6 for now,

maybe it will be on v1.5.6a or v1.5.7

as i said better do your web design planning without this feature.
