Notify users on new/update content

Now we have email notifications to administrators on Frontend:
1. new content is submitted and
2. when content is saved

But this is for frontend and only to admins

You mean to send notifications for new items created and saved per category? e.g. by having a list of "per category subscribers?"

We have an open enhancement issue here:
