I think it is best to first try to remove (rename) it:

Find file (if it exists):

/templates/MYJOOMLA_TEMPLATE/html/pagination.php
rename it to
/templates/MYJOOMLA_TEMPLATE/html/pagination__.php

I tried two things according to your message:

- I copied pagination.php from protostar/html to purity_iii/html because there was no pagination.php in my template!

The result is the same (wrong pagination when I change the category) but the layout changed:

- The second thing : when I rename pagination.php to pagination_.php, it returns as it was in the beginning...

Do you have another suggestion?

despite this not being a FLEXIcontent issue, it is easy for us to help, so will do

just do this:

1. rename the file as asked above
2. Post here a link to the page that show the NEW pagination with broken layout (that appears vertically)

and i will give you some CSS rules to fix it
and be done with it (this is the quickest thing to do, and proper too)

Wait you may also need to rename 1 more file

i see that the template you are using is 2012,

J3.4 and J3.6 have made some changes to pagination

and your template besides overriding
pagination.php file

is probably also overriding the JPagination class,
thus renaming the pagination.php will not help / is not enough

you will need to use a different template, or have someone patch your template manually

I tried to update my purity_iii template but it show me the following error :
