the description is displayed in some templates by adding field in a template position and in some by parameter
- so you speak of which template ?
e.g. blog template has parameter to force readmore OFF
TIP: go to categories manager, the category manager will properly consider heritage to show which template your categories are using
- also if you can not disable something, you can always
1. copy the template in templates manager
2. select it in a category so that it is used by the category and its sub-categories
3. in template manager click to edit the "category layout" of the template
4. Edit files "category_items.php" and "category_items_html5.php" and remove what you do not need

I have create a copy of the blog template that I called " view-family."
Yet I have the decription of the item + an error that is "Notice: Undefined variable: readmore_shown in C: \ wamp \ www \ components \ com_flexicontent \ templates \ view-family \ category_items.php on line 437"
I would have no description and no read more, just the title, image and text fields that I added
