Ok,

Hello,
well a 40,000 entries may not be too much , => 400 kbs in item form ?

select2 jQuery JS library will make filtering it easier

also what you suggest is in our plans, or to load the select field via AJAX when user enter some characters, but this is not available now

So this was added in todo for v2.0.2

TODO: add select2 JS library to fields with drop down select form fields, these are:
select, multi-select field, and textselect

40000 lines in a tables aren't too much, sure.

But for the final authors in the submission form, 40000lines in the drop down list are too much.

That why i am trying to find a solution to reduce this number.
Auto suggestion is a way.
Another one is to have previous field like "département" or "code postale". The next field (villes) will show in the drop down list only the elements whose have the value of the previous field.

Am i clear?

Hello,
yes , what you describe is planned and is not available now, you could only create this if you author a new custom flexicontent field

www.flexicontent.org/documentati ... ields.html

Despite not wanting to add new features to v2.0.2
i will enable loading of JS lib that you will give you instant filtering to the select field as soon as you type the 1st character.

Currently there is no other alternative implemented

Regards

Thank
I don't anderstand your last sentences.

Because actually, in a select drop down we can write a letter to go in the world stating with.

Hello,
i meant of the filtering that does:
-- e.g. you type 4 letters and then you are presented with 5 options only out of the 40000
-- also the filtering works with inner letters not just the starting one
