Thanks for quick answer.

So if I understand well, if the image size of the gallery never change, the image will be not recreated each time. Is it that?

Hello

-- yes the thumbnails are not recreated when using the image field (the phpThumb thumbnailing will not be called)

-- about using the phpthumb directly (which utilizes it's own cache)
e.g. this is done by the blog template and Universal content module, (when they are not configured to use an image field with a specific thumbnail)

FLEXIcontent ships with a default size of phpThumb cache of 100MBs and 30 days thumbnail life max, the 100 MBs should be enough for small/medium size sites to avoid kicking out of cache thumbnails, but for large sites with many images it maybe appropriate to increase the size of phpThumb cache
