[SOLVED] 404 error on documentation and forum

3 years 6 months ago #53883 by bobthebob01
Hi,

i've noticed that lately google search results are landing error page.
Here is an example:
I searched for "flexicontent google map" and the first result was:
Creating field to display google maps - FLEXIcontent
www.flexicontent.org/en/documentation/fa...lay-google-maps.html
Oct 28, 2013 - There is a free FLEXIcontent field for Google Maps: code.google.com/p/flexigmap/downloads/list . Alternative you can -- install a google ...

But that lands on an error 404 page.

And I think i may have had the same previously with forum post.

I hope it helps.

Cheers

Hello

i have reenabled the language filter plugin, disabled yesterday

Explanation:

  1. these links , were indexed with
-- language filter plugin and with "NOT" remove language code for default language

thus they have /en/ in the URL,
which will cause error 404 in the URL

slowly google will reindex them without the /en/

  2. Reason for disabling the plugin, was because the language downloads (CTransifex joomla extension) stopped working, because the plugin overwrites the language URL variable which (CTransifex joomla extension uses to get language ID

Thanks for quick report
... i will make some quick dirty patch for the language download problem, PS: v3 BETA6=>RC (with B6 bugfixes)=>final is almost here

But thinking a bit more. If the only difference with in the URL is /en/ or /fr/; why don't you just add a rewrite url in the .htaccess file.

Just a thought.

Hello

thanks, we solved problem with ctransifex and language filter plugin,
now links will work with and without language code in the URL since both plugin

- language code and
- language filter

were enabled

URLs with /en/ will be redirected to web-site url without /en/ as english is default
