Hi!
I have an idea how to avoid empty links in Navigation field.

Also, this method will very useful for SEO, because circle (looped) links creating more page weight (Google PR).

So, we should add 2 parameters:

1. Looped links inside current category.

When we previous link is last in current category - next item is first from current category:

and viсe versa

2. Looped links in configured parent category.

In this mode we should set parent category with subcategories in which links will be looped.

For example, parent category: Auto, subcategories: BMW, AUDI, OPEL

So, in last item in BMW category, next item is first in AUDI category:

So, we have 2 looped modes, inside current category and inside configured category including subcategories.

Hello

Little work, but low priority enhancement
you can open an issue in github, and will add this in short term future (after v3.2.0)

-- but we cannot not something
that we are not sure how it should be exactly !

1. If it loops to the first item is it proper to say "Next" ?
2. and also the "next" icon is proper in this case, is there a better option for the icon ?
3. also thinking , if this could be default behaviour , without configuration option ?

I do not see any problems with this.

The user does not care whether the first program is or not.
It's just next on the list.

As in above text. It does not matter.

3. also thinking , if this could be default behaviour , without configuration option ?

No think so.
We should have choice:

1. Not looped
2. Looped inside current category
3. Looped inside specific category included subcategories.

We should understand - this option is more important not for users, but for the correct allocation of the reference weight of the site.

Users will also benefit - there will be no empty links in the navigation field.

-- no option to include or exclude subcategory items
Currently navigation field uses configuration of every category
and it will remain like this

it has been a great pain to finally fix the above behaviour,
before we fixed it , items in next / previous were not the same as the items the user viewed in the category

also we need to update field to support navigating special cases :
- favourites category based view
- myitems category based view
- etc ...
