Item view on new window

I want to display items in some categories on new window.
Would you be able to add an option of displaying item on new window/parent window in category setting?

simply just add target="_blank" in your template category_item.php on link ..

I know that I can add it but with coming new template system, as long as I know we can set up many Category/Type templates in one template by setting its configurations. So I guess it is better to have as an option.

mmm, such a parameter would have also like

- open in same window
- open in new window
- open in new window, component only
- open in modal popup
- open in modal popup, component only

component only (will only show flexicontent content without modules and other template skeleton)

in which cases this would be useful ? (e.g. your case)

Regarding "open in modal popup, component only" ...
I have seen users ask for this many times over the years in the Joomla forum.
Often what they are trying to do is have the modal pop-up from the category view.
The category view would be a short text or just images.

I have seen it used for template galleries.
And it could be used for any custom gallery.
Or for a portfolio page (have seen this done).

Very useful.

In my case I will only need new window/same window, this will be useful when result of filtering, users can see items on new window and still be able to see filtering result page. Component only option is useful for small screen devices as well.
