Is it possible to have the image filed option to select image from different folders on the server? At the moment there is only a dropdown to select uploaded images from one folder.

This has been a wanted feature by many,
since usually:
1. media (image/etc) files are never reused
2. we would like to isolate images to per item-related folders, to limit the listed images

We have done already work on this one, but it is not available yet

Any news on this feature?
I really badly need to be able to use pictures from server's folders for image field or minigallery field. Or atleast some guidance how the field can be changed by a developer. Please :)

Hello,

sorry but all feature request will have to wait
(this is not planned in near future)

Currently working on finishing FLEXIcontent v2.1.0 and on some paid projects

... unless a feature is
- related to a bug
- or will be very commonly used
- or is very important
- or we like it a lot
- or we are paid to do it
- or we like it a little and at least 80% of the needed code is contributed (we still need debugging and revising the code because most contributed code is bad implementation ...)

so unless the above ...
it will have to wait for a future implementation (i cannot say when !!)

Regards

Hello,

maybe we are not talking about same thing

image/image gallery has 2 modes:
(top most parameter)

"Folder mode"
and
"DB reusable mode"

... about using "different folder"

this is already implemented if you set the image field into "folder mode"

or you want to use different folders in the case of "DB reusable mode" ?

Hello,

i was speaking of something else,

i thought you meant using images from a different server ... i read your post rather quickly

Our implementation for folder support in image field is the image's field "folder mode", which was done after common request and was not trivial to implement.

To use folders in image field "DB mode" is not trivial since various compatibility issues will arise, plus the change needs to be made not in file manager / file element view, and to image field and file field
