Width columns category default template

Hello,

Can please anybody help me out with the following issue?

On my website I have a list with items in a category. Each item has several fields which are displayed in several columns in the default category view.
However, I can't change the width of the columns. Each column has the width of the longest text in the column on that page.
The top bar on the print screen shows also that the page is much wider than the columns show.

So the question is: how can I change the width of the columns, so that the whole page is used, or at least each column has some space between the columns?

Go to templates manager

1. (At the 1st column) Click to "duplicate" the "default" template as "mydefault" (or whatever name you want)
2. Then click to edit the category layout of the template (last column of "mydefault" row)
3. In the form that open, go to edit files table , and edit file

category_items.php (you may have to do same for category_items_html5.php)

find row (about line 161)
Change to
table table-striped

are CSS styling classes of bootstrap

Thank you for your answer. However, when I changed this, none of my items appear anymore.

The change that i suggested should not have such an effect on the view
It looks like something more was changed in the files

Maybe reduplicate the template and retry doing the change

I retried the steps you described, but I got the same error.

I checked all the settings, but all settings are on global and the default template has not changed before.

I hope you can help me out with this problem.

please send me a PM (private message) with super admin access
- also include the frontpage category URL that you are using
- the name of your duplicated template that you modified

seeing what this is should be easy / fast
also possibly we will make this change permanent ... (going into the default template itself)
