How do you completely customize the layout of a template? I would like to change the front end view of the template for this type i.e. fonts, colours, etc

A quick/short answer

1. Go to template manager and duplicate on of the built-in templates e.g copy 'blog' template to 'myblog'

2. Goto folder
components/com_flexicontent/templates/myblog
and edit files item.php and category_items.php
css in the css folder
