Peter van Westen ( www.nonumber.nl ) has just released a very practical admin module for Joomla! which allows you to quickly create menu items.
Thanks to a clever component templating system you can easily adapt any component.
That's what I did for FLEXIcontent:
1. Download "Add to menu" module at www.nonumber.nl/addtomenu
2. Install it
3. Download and unzip the com_flexicontent.zip enclosed in this post.
4. Add the com_flexicontent directory to administrator/modules/mod_addtomenu/addtomenu/components/
5. Now when you are editing an item or a category you can click on the "Add to menu" icon (top right corner of the window) to quickly add a new menu link.
6. Enjoy :)

Many thanks to Peter ;)
