500 Layout default not found

Hi all,
I have a problem with freshly installed Joomla nad Flexicontent.
When I try to open "Files" section I get an 500 error saying Layout default not found (check screenshot).
Is there a fix?
 
 

Went digging a bit more and I cannot upload any photo, or rather when trying to check myfiles I get an error that the default.php file from template views is missing. When trying to upload it manually (unziped the install package) it gets erased right away.

did you check if file exist ?
that a problem in front-end form or in backend ?

Backend. as of now. Probably also in the frontend but I di not even get to there yet.
And also the file does not exist on the server (there is just indexer.php and no default.php) even if try to upload it.
It's like it is not being uploaded when installing. Tried again today with fresh installs again and the same error pops up.

And I don't know why (maybe it is related) when I choose a photo for intro and main image, it does not show on the frontend.
