About multiple URLs to same item, if item is assigned to multiple categories

Hi,

My understanding with FLEXIcontent is that if you add the item to the menu - it would be the default URL:

/wheels/road-wheels/t28 - is the correct URL

The item needs to be in 2 categories:
wheels
---> roadwheels
---> item

However, when I check the categories:

Wheels (link):
/10-wheels/29-t28

Road Wheels (link):
/content/11-road-wheels/29-t28

Finally you turn the canonical on the item and it doesn't point to the menu item:
/content/11-road-wheels/29-t28" rel="canonical"

Has something changed - I am running 3.0.9-dev2?

What do I need to do set it so that all links are the menu item "/wheels/road-wheels/t28"?

I hope that J3.5 - finally fixed this issue:

Thanks,

Robert

Hello

the REL canonical URL of the item is:

// Create desired REL canonical URL
$ucanonical = $domain . JRoute::_(FlexicontentHelperRoute::getItemRoute($item->slug, $globalcats[$item->maincatid]->slug, 0, $item)); // $item->categoryslug

thus it is absolute and it is the SEF URL create by our FLEXIcontent SEF url code using the main category of the item

Hello

explanation:

- if you assign item to multiple categories
- and then you may create multiple menu item to these categories

then you can get multiple different URLs to the same item
- but you always get a REL canonical URL that uses item's main category

Thanks - but I'm still stuck.
If I look at my other FLEXIcontent sites - I add the item to the menu and the category or mod_flexi follows the URL like this:

However - this isn't happening anymore.

The ideal scenario is it follows the Menu URL - as its the clean one.

Hello

the menu item for an item is selected in this order:

1. specific given menu item given
2. menu item direct to the item
3. type's default menu item if this is enabled
4. item's (current) category and its parent categories in ascending order
5. component's default menu item, e.g. 'site_content', 'content' or whatever you have named it
