[solved] Initial filter state?

hi there,

i'm quite sure i could once create a FC-menu item of type category which had a pre-set filter, but either i just can't find it anymore or it was never there. Can you help me out with a hint?

[Details]
I have a category of items, each item with a select-field set to 'blue' or 'red'.
I'm trying to create two menu items that both point to my category, but already set the filter to one color, this way imitating tags or subcategory here.

I know i can do it with an external-link-menu-item, but then i cannot have a nice SEF url for that page.

thank you!

There is such parameters in the menu items of "Single Category", "Author", "My Items", "Multiple Cateogies"

They are inside the slider, "Override Category Parameters"

Thanks for your reply.

But what I need is to pre-select one of the filter options:

I did succeed to show the filter, so users see a dropdown with the options red and blue.
I did not succeed pre-selecting one of those colors on page load - is that possible, too?

In case you meant that already, what could be the reason that I don't see that option (other than being in front of the screen too much :) ) I attached a screenshot of my menu item parameters shopped so that all the relevant ones are visible at once. Sorry for being a slowpoke on that one.

Thank you a lot!

oh cr*p, you are right, now i do have the latest version and i do see those fields. sorry for that.

i do have some follow-up problems (timeout after 90sec and error 500 on my filtered category pages eventhough i re-calculated both basic and advanced search index of my 12.000 items), but i hope i can figure those out by myself.

thanks again, kath

12000 items ?

you would be pleased to know that upcoming v2.0.1 has an items manager optimized to be faster up to 20x, 30x or more for large sites:
- when no filtering is selected (=all sites items) and while ordering at the same time via any column

in fact the items manager is now only minimally effected by the number of items, making it multiple times faster than joomla and other CCKs

-- Same optimization will take place for frontend for category view (categories with more than 3000 will see a big benefit) (this is not implemented yet)

If you want
1. to receive help on this
2. and also help FLEXIcontent project

please provide an akeaba backup of your site so that i can test locally (and of course delete after some time)

Please contact me with a PM !!

Regards
