Hi,

I dont know if this is an issue of flexicontent or sh404sef …

With enabled sh404sef the canonical links are different for the same article: the canonical is always the same url like the current point ov view.

It would be nice if anyone could help to fix this.

Thanks :)

So all items have the same canonical URL , their id is missing ?

Thank you for reply, ggppdk.

Article id is added to sef url! Also in non-sef-url, of course (cid, id, itemid).

Its not that items have the same canonical url! ;) If I have selected 3 categories for an article, I have 3 different urls. One url should be noticed as canonical for all these urls, but instead I have for all urls the current url noticed as canincal url.

Example:

url 1 "category1/category2/item-567.html" has "category1/category2/item-567.html" as canonical.

url 2 "category1/item-567.html" has "category1/item-567.html" as canonical (instead "category1/category2/item-567.html" like url 1).

I see , i think there is a setting in SH404SEF that specifies how many parent categories to add to the URL. I have just checked and FLEXIcontent SH404SEF , uses it in J2.5 versions.

Goto SH404SEF configuration:

SH404SEF Control Panel/Configuration/Extension Configuration/Joomla "Tab"

There you can find 2 options
"Show Category" (used in our item view)
"Show cat. in categories links"
these add the category title -or- aliases to the title

you could try disabling them,

but then again i am not sure this the best solution, you see SH404SEF is creating the links , and we cannot just add something we like in the canonical URL or we risk having broken canonical links.

If you have some idea, i will open an enhancement issue

I am not lucky with disable categories in url :( If no categories are in url, I also dont need a canonical url. Also the declaration of currently active menu items in navigations menu are not working with disabled categories in url ...

I am not a developer (not realy), but it is not possible to set url of main category, selected in article, as default canonical url?

Then you should disable the Canonical tag,

1. visit your (FLEXIcontent)
Global Configuration/Options Tab/SEF-URL Options Section

there you can disable canonical tag

2. Edit each of your Content Types and verify that the use "Use Global" for canonical Tag parameter
