Hi,

I'd like to know if it's possible to remove the word "item" from SEF URLs generated by Joomla! I'm not using any 3rd party to generate URLs. Only the joomla core SEF router.

All links coming from a blog view (not from a menu item) are adding the word "item" in the URL.

thanks in advance.

hello
version of flexicontent ??

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Your question is answered in this FAQ article:

Creating shorter/nicer SEF urls and structure of item URLs

I copy some of item here:

FLEXIcontent item SEF urls contain 3 parts:
-- each part has segments like '/nnn/'
-- part (a) has multiple segments

PARTS:
(a) a Joomla menu item alias AAA pointing to any FLEXIcontent view,
plus all menu item aliases that are above AAA
(b) then current category alias (e.g. 45:carparts)
(c) then item alias in the SEF URL (e.g. 1423:breakes)

-- if (b) is missing (no current category) the '/item/' is obligatory
-- if (a) points to the specific FLEXIcontent item then (b) and (c) are skipped

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.

I had links with a) b) and c). The links had NO "item" in it. I know that, because I put absolute links into a slideshow module:
www.muenstermann.com/en/conveyin ... cable.html
After I installed 1551 (I just discovered this), navigating through the menu (b is available), I get this:
www.muenstermann.com/en/conveyin ... acity.html
The "good" thing is that the article is reachable with both links otherwise all my slideshow links would have been broken.
I opened a thread a while ago. In this post I made the suggestion to release a STABLE version and add bigger changes only in a development version. After that there have been many major changes to FlexiContent!

Installing 1551 also gave another different behaviour. Article order in a category view changed when all articles had "0" as order number.

I ALWAYS PRAY that the page looks the same and nothing breaks when I update to a new version of FlexiContent.

The SEF links in v1.5.4/v1.5.5 had a couple of serious bugs , e.g.

-- com_content menu items could not be used, we had to redirect, now this is not the case, this is important for existing sites (along with the speed improvement)

-- also if linking from a different component and current menu it was picked up , then page gave error as soon as you enabled SEF

-- The default FLEXIcontent menu item was random if a "relative" one was not found, now there are 2 parameters for it,

1. about the 'item' (recently) in URLs ,this restored 'old' v1.5.4/v1.5.5 (which was correct behavior)

2. canonical URLs usage has been extended to more cases

3. default menu item gives more control how your URLs looks, along with option to select current menu item or not

4. some bugs regarding sh404SEF bugs were addressed

5. code for selecting menu item in J2.5 is now i believe correct (new menu items associations were not trivial)

6. care was taken not to break existing bookmarked links and not break compatibility,

7. maybe not so relative but
a. automatic pathways option was added
b. ability to exclude category adding to pathways for multiple Content TYpe

8. code is now clean and can be changed, also other things that i forget

-- anyway changes were because there were real issues, and had to be changed, i am sorry for the trouble
-- also in future version content list views will have ability to use filter names in URL instead of filter ids

Regards
