hi there,

how can I add a custom date field (say an concert's date) as sortable column to my backend-item-manager?

I succeeded to add a column to the item-manager. but the column is not yet sortable. Do I have to set a certain date-format?

Thanks a lot for insight :)

you can add date field column in global config > backend manager > item manager > apparence
add field name in custom columns
and use add filters and your date field (need to to be filter in field admin)

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Hi micker,

thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately, this doesn't answer it fully yet, I'll try to be more specific:

[What does not yet work]
In backend-item-manager, the column "Datum" (Label of field "date") is there and shows values, but column-head is not clickable, so the column is not sortable (Problem 1).
Filter for that field is missing (Problem 2), because in FC-global-config > backend manager > item manager > apparence > Custom filters, I can not select my field.

[What I had already successfully done]
- "global config > backend manager > item manager > apparence." O
- "add field name in custom columns." OK
- "need to to be filter in field admin" OK
To be clear, I set that in
- "Edit field" > lefthand tab "Search, filtering" > Basic Search Index > Filter "Yes"
- "Edit field" > lefthand tab "Search, filtering" > Advanced Search Index > Filter "Yes"
I did rebuild indexes whenever asked to.
I did not set anything in "Edit field" > "FIELD TYPE specific configuration" > "Filtering" > *

[More Details]
- field-name is "date".
- date-format of that field in backend-item-manager is "yyyy-mm-dd"
(- date-format of fields "Created" and "Revised" in backend-item-manager is "dd/mm/yyyy")

[Setup]
- J 3.9.2
- FC 3.2.1.15
- I also have "com_flexicontent - de-DE" / "Site" / "File" / "2016-11-17-03-29-35"

(phew, complex task.. :) )

Hello

the limitations on allowing fields
select / selectmultiple
radio / radioimage
checkbox / checkboximage

(with display of the above as drop-down select)

was made to avoid complaints for performance in items manager
- technically more fields can be added

especially the date fields , if we display them as date pickers and not as drop-down select (e.g. aggregating per year)
then they should not have any performance impact

just now the date field is not allowed as filter

(PS date fields in next version will be usable as "Age" fields too ..)
