Batch Import Data via Database - Items

I don't fully understand the built-in CSV import function. More accurately, I wouldn't know how to properly format my data. I am, however, comfortable exporting a database table, adding my information via Excel, and re-importing to the database. If I wanted to just populate Items, extrapolating how the syntax works based on pre-existing entries, is the only table I need _flexicontent_items_ext?

Hello

CSV import effects table

#__content    (every item)
#__flexicontent_items_ext    (every item)
#__flexicontent_items_tmp    (every item)
#__flexicontent_fields_item_relations  (field values)

with
v3.2.1.15-rc

you can export item ID too, and modify the CSV
and then re-import on "update" mode to update records

Do this on a test website only , or you can just export 2 records and import them to see what is the result

Hm. I successfully made an export of my desired type, but it doesn't follow the proposed CSV formatting; it's tab-delimited. I also don't see a means of including the ID as it's not a core field and adding id to Custom columns doesn't yield desired results. What have I overlooked?
