I have a FLEXIContent Category menu item. It lists only the titles. I have a text filter that I want to only filter the title field but it also filters the description field. How can I disable the description field in my results?

FLEXIContent 3.1.0 and Joomla 3.6.4

Thanks.

Hello,

disable text search

and go to "Title" field
- enable it as filter for category view and maybe for search view if you need that too
- configure it to be displayed as"text search" filter (but actually this its only display, ... you can NOT display it as drop down select filter or as checkbox filter)

then if you are display "all filters" you need to do nothing more if you are displaying specific filters then go to the component settings to a category:
- enable "use filters"
- select the title field to displayed as filter

Hello

see my previous answer

note you can do the same with description field, you can display it as "text search" box

thus you will have 2 search boxes
- 1 for title field
- 1 for description field

Finally there is another option that will allow you to keep the "common" Text-search field
- go to description field and disable it being text searchable in category views
- then re-index the "Basic" search index

thus the "Test-search" box will not search in description, remember that the search box searches in all fields marked as text-searchable

this way you

Thanks for the quick response.

I went into the Title field, under "Search, filtering" the 3 options are set to "yes".

In the category, "Search / Filter form", "Text Search", "Use search" is set to "No".

"Filter fields", "Display filters" is set to "Yes".

So I think I followed all your instructions. Now in the "Filter fields" tab, "Select filter", nothing appears in the drop down.

I did not create a new type and the menu item uses the default settings, no override. I also tried a couple of things before posting and there might be something I changed that I forgot to change back.

Can you think of something else?

Thanks.

Hello

i see,
i did not phrase it write:

- mark the field as "Filterable" for category views

then you will be able to select as a filter in the parameter that now appears empty

Title field, under "Search, filtering", "Filter" is set to "Yes". Is this the setting you're referring to? If so, I still can't select it in the category under "Search / Filter form", "Field / Filters" and "Select filters" (it's still empty).
