Dragging and dropping items

Hello,

For some reason (I have sat for two hours trying to understand why to avoid bugging you but I give up), about a quarter of my items (articles) cannot be re-ordered by dragging and dropping as the green arrows symbol is not present.

Also, in several of the categories, several of the articles do not have green arrows but the rest do.

Also, while I'm here, what does the symbol with only two little arrows in it mean?

I appreciate both your product and your quick responses (my earlier responses today have already been responded to)

Regards,

Hello,
the explanation is at the top of the column hover your mouse to see a popup description. :)

1. To be able to order, you must first click on the column Head so that the column will get's sorted !
2. Then the arrows become green
3. You drag and drop and when you are done you click save button at the top of the column

The 2 arrows instead of 4 mean the end of an ordering group,
e.g. why would put inside same ordering group items that have different language??
or items that are published and unpublished

so these form ordering groups

- To order a specific category , set the category filter for that category,
and also apply this fix (replace a file):

Please filter:
1. Order type: Flexicontent
2. Include subcategories: no
Then you are able to drag and drop!

@ggppdk: 2. has to be done in the latest version even if there are no subcategories. A bug?

comment by ggppdk: you do not need to exclude subcategories in v2.0.1, just click to sort by ordering column, (and optionally set items to 50/100 per page and enable language filter and published filter, in order to be able to see more relevant items in a single page)

Please have a look at the images attached. Only difference is the subcategory filter. Only excluding subcategories allows drag and drop for me. Please note that there are no subcategories.

This picture is normal !

In your picture you have selected FLEXIcontent ordering which is about each category since FLEXIcontent can assigne multiple categories per item.

About subcategories items save ordering for which of the 4 or 5 or 3 categories of the item ??

If you select Joomla ordering that includes only primary category then what you have in mind is possible

Regards

Hi,
we have a German proverb "Vielleicht reden wir aneinander vorbei", which could be translated with "talking at cross purposes". We might mean the same and do not realise it.

The initial question was how drag and drop can be enabled. I have attached four images from items in a category. The category itself contains no subcategories. Some items are in more than one category. There is only one setting that allows drag and drop of the items and it is mandatory to exclude subcategories in the filter. This is totally ok, but one has to know this or ordering of items is not possible. Or am I missing something basic?
