ABOUT THE SEARCH VIEW:
The new advanced search view has many benefits, and it could be have been a costly separate commecial component,
but is given to you for free !!
- Allows text searching in otherwise unsearchable fields: e.g. it allows searching in image/gallery field, in file field, etc
- Allows using almost any field as filter in you site's search view
- Has multiple appearances per Field Filter e.g. drop-down select, dual drop down select, radio togglable Buttons, checkbox togglable Button, singl text box, dual textbox ranges
- Allows the above appearances for date-like fields: created, modified, custom date fields, and futher more features optional grouping of dates per year, month, day, (and the dual text range has datepicker of course)
- FACETED filter behavior !!!
- Displays available filter values according to current filtering
- Counts available Content Items per filter value !!
- Has a feature rich (menu-item) configuration to customize the behavior and appearance of your search results e.g.:
- a customizable powerful but compacted search form
- add image along with description (either extracting from main text or using an image field)
- allows including any FLEXIcontent field in the result list
- You have option not to use the advanced search index, and instead use the basic search index which is somewhat faster (just note that basic search index does not allow search filters only text search)
- A user friendly backend monitor the changes you make when marking a field as basic or advanced text-searchable/filterable and warnings you to rebuild the index (need only if you change configuration)
HOW-TO USE:
- Declare the fields you wanted to be index searchable as "advanced searchable"
- Go to search-index Dashboad Tab, purge and click "purge" and "index" to recreate the index
- Create a menu item to link to the (advanced) search view and configure in this menu item the appearance & behavior of the search view
NOTE: if you enable "advanced searchable" for more fields, you will need to recreate the index
NOTE: after initial creation, the indexed is updated automatically:
- every time a published item is saved (new or existing one)
- every time an existing item version is approved
