It is possible to create multiple Featured Categories with FLEXIcontent, e.g. J1.6+ olny as a single Featured property
Like this:
- Create a category e.g. called "Best Value", "Recommended", "Frontpage Slideshow"
- Give Create (J2.5) or Add (J1.5 FLEXIaccess) permissions to the users that should be able to assign items to these categories
- Go the the (SYSTEM) FLEXIcontent advanced route plugin and select to exclude these categories from routing (=meaning no links will be created to it, e.g. when displaying the categories of an item this category will not be listed)
- If needed
a. Duplicate a template (e.g. the blog template and call it called "bestvalueblog") and assign it to the category "Best Value", etc
b. edit the files of this new template (particularly the category*.php files) to customize them.
- Assign the items you wish to appear in these categories (you or the allowed users with create permission can assign to these categories)
Of course the items will be assigned to both the "Featured" categories and their normal category(-ies) (just use CTRL-click to select)
You are done !!
NOTE: v1.5.6 / v2.0 final, we have add a flag in category configuration to mark it as featured, and make it appear as CHECKBOX in the item form. Thus it will be easier to assign these categories to items
