could we get a filter/search function for FC's extensive config section?

hello can you explain more ? you mean a search in flexicontent administration ?

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

yes, exactly.
Since flexicontent is so big, it can take quite some time to find a setting in the FC-config area; One has to go through a lot of tabs and sub-tabs atthe moment.
