tonnick wrote: ok such a big change !!!!

Joomla url rewritting is not working anymore and so, I cannot anymore use module assignemnt as everything is as for exemple :

www.myweb/en/?option=com_flexico ... em&id=3411

help needed ! thx !

If migrating to J2.5 causes a lot of problems, maybe postpone it. e.g. till the process is more mature and/or till you know more of the task,

i myself did have time and/or wanted to deal with implications upgrading some sites.

about URL rewriting, i cannot say anything i don't have information to say something about it, regardless of how much i would try

Which SEF do you use Joomlas or SH404?
What setting do you have in Joomla's Global configurations?
Where do the FLEXIcontent non-SEF URLs occur? in category view ? else where?

Sometimes you may have written before e.g. that you use SH404SEF, but it is not bad to repeat, i read many posts and try hard to answer them

-- Furthermore i still do not understand your issue with the binding to a FLEXIcontent Content Type.
Did the already bound articles lost their Type or not
I am sorry, i don't understand

well this is french support, so I can explain in english, but tell me if you need me to open a new topic un english support or we continue in french / english

migrating to J2.5 causes a lot of problems

>> not really, this is migrating to new flexicontent version which causes a lot of problem.

here is history of my web :
- joomla 1.5 + joomfish + flexicontent
two kind of content :
*one managed by flexicontent as "database content"
*one managed by joomla system + joomfish as "web content"
- data migration from joomla 1.5 to joomla 2.5
- joomla 2.5 native language system used
"Web content" rebuilt with modules positions in function of menus etc...
untill this step, native joomla 2.5 url and language system were working fine on my "web content"

then, for my second part of my web ("database content"), I installed flexicontent to manage articles already migrated

>> consequences

Flexicontent forced me to use this system to manage all my articles, "web content" + "database content"

- previous articles migrated "over binded"
- Joomla native Url re writting is not working anymore
- modules positions does not work anymore due to URL rewritting I guess

>> So question is : does flexicontent has an issue with Joomla 2.5 url native rewritting ? if yes, how can we fix it ?!

once again, flexicontent is a great component, no doubt about it. But the fact that it's not linked anymore to a specific category, but to any is a big change doing a migration with more than 2000 articles....

note >> I'll try to upload soon a version of my web to let you understand better if it's not clear.

FLEXIcontent v1.5.6 for J1.5 and v2.0 for J2.5, have almost the same features

Actually v2.0 has 2 features less than v1.5.6,
(a) no CSV import with (multi-value, multi-property per value support) and
(b) no author management,

but currently, i am porting both of them to v2.0

PLEASE not that behavior for v1.5.6 for J1.5 HAS NOT changed, you still have the "FLEXI" section, and so you can have "joomla-only articles"

In J1.6/J1.7/J2.5, the sections were removed,
so if you stick to J1.5 with v1.5.6, you can have all the numerous new benefits of the new FLEXIcontent version.

Regards

FLEXIcontent v1.5.6 for J1.5 and v2.0 for J2.5, have almost the same features

they are not as once again, there is not anymore the section dedicated to component !

then, binding, I have to bind everything to flexicontent ! as you said before, there is no filter to do it

so, no choice, when installing flexicontent v2 on joomla 2.5, it take control of all content, and I cannot have "joomla-only" article.

and now, as said before, as flexicontent took the main place in article management, as said before, there is an issue with joomla 2.5 native url rewritting which is not amymore working.

and so, with this issue came the fact that my modules are not shown anymore

so :
- do you have any issue between flexicontent and joomla 2.5 native url re writting system
- how can we fix it
- will see if it solve too my module position issue

thx

please,

this a free software with limitations / requirements / trade-offs (you loose somewhere you gain in somewhere else)
in v2.0 you just have to bind all items not having a Type already to a basic field Type, later on you can benefit from this.

anyway, you select what is important for you and go with the best choice,

and i have made my suggestion and don't take me wrong if migrating to J2.5 has implications, better avoid it just YET

i have not used myself the migration tool yet for FLEXIcontent not even to my sites, i don't have time for it just yet. Finishing changes to current FLEXIcontent version is the priority and closing bugs.

despite not having time, i try to help all users of this forum, and i have done free of charge for a couple of reasons

please take your test site online (or have you upgrade a live-site) and send me a PM with wevsite URL, admin login, and problem scenario
e.g. the URL problem:
-- you visit this category view and the links are not SEF

I promise, to look at it the next 2 days

Best Regards
