what you provide is not enough to answer you:

you are talking about
1. category view?
2. using category layout of blog template?
3. using an image field in DB-mode or in Folder-mode ??? or "extract for description" ???

You checked that image exists for this article ?

Hello, you have some the extension lazy load plugin in your website

-- Τhis plugin breaks the HTML of image that use phpThumb will linking for external source", i have disabled it, and the images work **

-- I have reported this to the author (i gave a description of the problem), but of course you realize this is not a FLEXIcontent bug, it is a 3-rd party extension damages HTML of these images like:
