The new alpha-index is nothing like what we had before, now
we don't have characters, but instead we have
character entities which can be:
- support for default Alpha-index per Language via new strings in language files
- supports character 'entities'
-- ranges
-- aggregations
-- aliases (and a hardcoded alias is # for 0-9 numbers)
-- combinations of the above
- support utf8 characters in the MySQL query for all in (2) (above)
- allow custom per category Alpha-Index while being able to maintain multi language ability
- option to skip unused characters (they not displayed)
- new category option to allow a custom separator to be used, instead of boxes around characters
- comprehensive and detailed description on-line help (popup balloons) in category editor For ALPHA-INDEX usage
- ability of alpha-index to work with joomla cache enabled
- Some css fixes and classes added, like highlighting for current alpha index character (entity)
TIP 1: Open a category description to see learn how to use via the on-line help. TIP 2: Edit your language files to have a custom per language alpha-index (you can override in category editor and the use copy parameters to update many categories)
